Natsume saw a spirit running around his house to inform that disaster will come. He decides to avoid involving spirits.
A female spirit asks Natsume for help. She says she got separated from her older brother traveling together to return their hometown.
Shibata who was a Natsume's old classmate asks Natsume to meet his girlfriend named Murasaki.
When Natsume was younger, there was a big tree in his school road, and a female spirit lived on the tree. She was often teasing him, but he was too young to understand her behavior.
Natsume and Tanuma help to clean up a storehouse of Taki family. There are a lot of rare items, because her grandfather had studied spirits. Natsume notices one of talisman kimonos is lost.
When Natsume Takashi inherits a book that belonged to his late grandmother he realizes the book is filled with the names of spirits she defeated and bound to her will. He then decides to return their names so they can be free once again.
